Organic Online Grocery Store

If you’re anything like me, you live rural. I’m not talking on the outskirts of town, I’m talking “it takes 30 minutes to get to the closest town with a grocery store and there isn’t much selection”.

So what’s a girl to do?

Look online.

With everything being delivered, especially during the pandemic, it’s no surprise that more and more businesses are turning towards deliveries and giving their customers more options.

I’m a big proponent of organic and supporting small businesses, so when I found some companies that are basically organic online grocery store, I couldn’t help but jump in head first. Let me share with you my experiences!

Multiple Options Abound

Let’s jump right to the chase.

My top picks for an organic online grocery store are:

If I’m pinching pennies, you can find other organic goodies at:

  • Walmart
  • Target

Those are at least within a 40 minute drive of our house so if I need to drive and get something, they are available to them.

And if they don’t have what I need (fresh produce that can be shipped, etc.), then I will move towards these companies:

  • Misfits Market
  • Imperfect Foods

Azure Standard

Azure Standard is something that I didn’t have when we lived on the east coast. Now that we’ve moved out west, I am blown away by the company and their options.

There are SO MANY choices, whether you want organic, non-GMO, or not certified but you know it’s grown/produced responsibly. The company is always open to suggestions or other products or ways they can improve.

Plus, they are very on top of things with supply shortages and labor shortages and keep their customers notified. This makes me feel truly valued and that they care about their customers.

How it works with ordering is you’ll need to create an account and pick a drop site that is nearest to you. From there, they let you know when the next drop is and it will display how long you have until the cutoff to place your order.

You’ll then get a detailed summary of your order and when it will be packed along with a rough time estimate for the drop.

Azure will email you once your order is packed and if there was anything out of stock. They’ll also send you a confirmation of the date and time. Your drop coordinator will inform you if there’s any delays and to be there roughly 15 minutes beforehand in case the truck driver arrives early.

Everyone at the drops have been super friendly and helpful, which is all the more welcoming!

Thrive Market

I heavily utilized Thrive Market when we lived on the east coast. They were readily available to our location, shipped fast, and had more diversity than our local grocery stores.

You do have to pay a membership to shop here, but equates roughly to a few dollars per month. They also run sales for membership, offer a decent referral program, and there is an option where if you can’t afford the membership, they will work with you.

A downside to this is some of their items do have a minimum quantity for you to purchase, such as marshmallows, you must purchase 2 of them.

Orders over $50 ship free.

Did I mention they have fast shipping? It’s FAST.

A final perk they offer is gifts and freebies on special occasions. They also do frequent sales.

Where do you shop?

Do you shop for your groceries or pantry items online? Are there any other stores that should be noted here? Let me know below!

  1. I’ve used Thrive Market many times, and they do have good organic choices. I have not heard of Azure Standard before. I love that the customer service team is able to keep customers up-to-date on supply shortages and order updates, but it seems like you are saying they don’t deliver on the East Coast? Is that right? I live in NJ.

    1. Hi Alicia,

As of last year they started branching out to the east coast. There are drop sites but they seem to be spaced out more as they are figuring out the demand and if the routes/drop sites are sufficient enough or if there’s more of a need. I imagine they’ll find themselves expanding a bunch on the east coast as they’re such a great company!

Here is where you can go to see if there’s one by you:

For reference, I lived in upstate NY and there was a drop a little under an hour from me. It wasn’t terrible since it was only once a month, but I did wish they were closer!

  2. I just love organic products. I am all about healthy living. I always say that health is wealth so if I can find a way to stay healthy, I do it by all means necessary. You have written an amazing article and have highlighted a few foods that I will try out.
