Toxin Free Makeup Brands

It is getting closer to the holiday season which means a majority of you might be looking for toxin free makeup brands.

Whether you’re gifting for a child who is into makeup, a teen or young adult, even someone in their prime of their life, you can find something from these brands to suite their fancy.

Toxic Ingredients

In my earlier post found here I went into a general list of toxic ingredients to avoid.

These are easy to spot when looking at a list of ingredients in your makeup and have been found in studies to cause harm such as cancer, endocrine disruption, adrenal issues, respiratory distress, and more.

Your skin is your largest organ and it takes mere seconds to absorb what is put on it. To lower your body burden, you will want to reduce the overall toxins that your body and skin is exposed to on a daily basis.

Safer Companies

If you’re looking for an online company that has wide varieties of brands and products to choose from, you have a couple different options:

Safe and Chic

– The Detox Market

– Organic Bunny

I have purchase numerous products from these businesses over the years and have been very pleased. My preference is Safe And Chic as they carry more of the brands that I prefer.

The Detox Market is generally good but there are some products they carry that have the questionable ingredients I try to avoid such as phenoxyethanol.

The Organic Bunny is another good option. She is an avid blogger for safer cosmetics and skincare. She has an online store that you can purchase these safer products she talks about and has some that she states aren’t the safest but if you want the performance, those are the happy middle ground.

Safer Brands

Crunchi is one of my go-to companies regarding safer cosmetics and skincare. They are a relatively new company who is hyper focused on having safe and toxin free products. They don’t sacrifice performance or quality for the ingredients, instead they have found a way for those to mesh. I have been extremely pleased by their products and know many others who swear by them!

You can view Crunchi’s current products here.

100% Pure is another one of my favorite brands. They were the company that I initially started with when I was switching out my products to safer ones. They have great sales that I usually go and snag a bunch up. Best of all, I don’t have to worry if my daughter sneaks into my makeup because I know that they won’t harm her skin.

Here are other brands that I have in my collection:

– Alima Pure

– Battington Lashes

– Chocolate Sun

– Fitglow Beauty

– HYNT Beauty

– ILIA Beauty

– Inika Organics

– Juice Beauty

– Lily Lolo

– RMS Beauty

This is a small list of all the current brands that have safer, toxin free products. You can find these at my favorite online store, Safe and Chic.

Make Your Own

Some people I know that are looking for safer brands can’t find anything that fits the ingredient preferences they want. Instead, they either forego makeup altogether or they make their own!

This recipe can be used for either eyeliner or mascara. You can test it out and see if you like the texture and formula for both uses or maybe just one! The best part is if you have these ingredients on hand, you will spend a fraction of the price as compared to buying at a store and you have the ability to control the ingredients. Feel free to tweak this recipe as needed or add other ingredients!

Place the beeswax, coconut oil, shea butter, and aloe in a double boiler.

Heat over low heat until melted. Add in the charcoal by opening the capsule and sprinkling the powder into the pot and mix well. Using a funnel, pour the mixture into your choice of container and let cool.

You can purchase mascara containers and wands online at places like Amazon or other online stores. You might even be lucky and find some at a local store. My personal preference is to save old mascara tubes and clean them out by soaking in hot soapy water and washing a few times.
